“How to See in the Dark.” An original creation featuring live music, dance and theater will take 350+ audience members on an immersive, thought-provoking journey into a uniquely magical universe of light and dark, human and natural environments. Funding from LTAC include an investment in stage, lighting, set, and costume design elements; lighting equipment and blackout curtain purchased were donated to the Light Box at Stillwater for their ongoing use. Funding also was used to compensate collaborating artists for over 150 hours of work.
20MOONS has been an active contributor to Durango’s Creative Economy, our city’s cultural conversation, and the quality of life in our community for over 13 years, by providing fresh, thought-provoking, original live music and dance theater productions and events. 20MOONS’ unique point of view enriches the perspectives of attendees, thus enabling deeper dialog and understanding in our community.
20MOONS’ work is inevitably and intentionally influenced by our deep love for the specific natural, social, and cultural surroundings of the Durango area. “How to See in the Dark” seeks to illuminate the inextricable relationship and interdependence between these very things. Their mission is to bring people together to have a conversation about the present world we live in, connecting us to the depth of the shared experience, and encouraging collective envisioning of a better future.
Their audiences are multigenerational, and range from young children through seniors. Witnessing dance theater and hearing live music sparks inspiration, curiosity, creativity, and a deepened appreciation for our human capacity to communicate and connect, no matter the age of the audience member.
