Dandelion Festival

Turtle Lake Refuge received LTAC funding for the 16th Annual Dandelion Festival, May 3, 2025, a free, family-friendly event. Funding supported the diverse performances, compensated performers and staff, and covered logistical expenses. To expand the programming from previous years, they hired youth activity coordinators to facilitate crafts, games, and educational activities to appeal to a wide range of tastes. Additionally, the grant funded a new pre-festival workshop on “The Art of Regenerative Organic Land Stewardship” on May 2nd, promoting sustainable practices regionally and enhancing the overall community impact of the event.

The 16th Annual Dandelion Festival had a deeply positive impact on Turtle Lake Refuge, the Durango community, and out-of-town guests. It was a fun, enriching, and inclusive celebration that brought the Durango community together. With expanded programming for children and enhanced outreach efforts, they successfully increased both the diversity and number of participants, helping families feel more welcome and engaged. The festival celebrated spring and organic land stewardship with joy and purpose, creating a vibrant, festive atmosphere. It also offered local musicians, artists, crafters, and food vendors a platform to showcase their talent. Altogether, the Dandelion Festival fostered connection, inspired environmental awareness, and reaffirmed Turtle Lake’s commitment to nurturing both people and the planet.
