Yunomi Pottery Studio

Yunomi is a pottery studio owned by Chyako Hashimoto, an artist, potter, and teacher. ‘Yunomi’ means ‘teacup’ in Japanese, and the studio houses a small clay community where you can meet and develop friendships while discovering and nurturing your artist within.

Yunomi received LTAC funding to cover the costs of three electric potter's wheels and seven stools.

Chyako is a native of Japan, and she never thought she would become a potter until she attended college in America.

Her first ceramics teacher, David Hunt, taught clay as a metaphor for life. He introduced her to the life of an artist, and through pottery, it was as if she saw who she was for the first time.

She started teaching ceramics in 1996 at Colorado Timberline Academy, a private boarding school in Durango, CO. She taught throughout her career as a potter, including enrichment courses at Fort Lewis College.

She has owned YUNOMI Pottery Studio for the past fourteen years, where she could fully materialize the environment she wanted for her students.
