Durango Theatreworks is a sponsored program of Fort Lewis College. The company was created to further the relationship between FLC and the community of Durango. They provide employment and opportunities for professional theatre makers in the area, as well as giving community theatre enthusiasts and students of all ages an opportunity to work side-by-side with theatre professionals. They also provide a wide range and styles of theatre for community members and tourists to enjoy; and increase the visibility of Durango as an center for the arts in the Four Corners region, thus increasing tourism revenue.

Durango Theaterworks received funding during the first round of 2022. This funding was rewarded to Durango Theaterworks to contribute towards continued performances throughout 2022.
