The Durango Botanic Gardens was awarded Lodger’s Tax: Arts and Culture funding for the Infiniti II Wind Harp.

The Infiniti II Wind Harp, produced by Pagosa artist, Ross Barrable, is a stunning work in metal with its 18 nylon strings and stainless steel tuning pins capturing wind movements in the Animas River corridor and transforming them into a variety of natural, pleasing musical tones. The strings generate different tones and moods depending on the direction and power of the wind; in other words, the wind harp becomes nature’s improvisational musician. In our experience, listening to a variety of this sculptor’s works, none of them offer any notes other than pleasing, relaxing, almost other-worldly tones. We submit that this handcrafted, locally produced piece, will instantly capture the attention and hearts of Durangoans while also becoming one of the city’s signature artworks.
